Toxik formed in Peekskill, New York in 1985 under guitarist Joshua Christian, originally under the name Tokyo before a name change necessitated by a prior registration. Signed to Roadrunner Records, the band released World Circus in 1987 and Think This in 1989, both of which are regarded as technical thrash metal benchmarks notable for their complex guitar work and unconventional song structures. After disbanding in 1992 and a brief 2007 reunion, the band reformed again in 2013 and released Kinetic Closure (2018) and Dis Morta (2022), extending one of thrash metal's more underrated legacies.
